Associate Consulting Arborist
Richard Evans is an Extension Specialist in Environmental Horticulture at the University of California, Davis, an ISA Certified Arborist, and a partner in Evans Associates, which provides horticultural consulting services. He received B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Plant Science and Plant Physiology at UC Davis, and has 30 years of experience conducting research and solving practical horticultural problems involving ornamental crops and landscapes.

We were asked to conduct a risk assessment on a few mature trees at the American River College in Sacramento, California. Here Richard is utilizing a small drill to determine the presence/extent of decay by measuring the resistance to its penetration into the wood.
